Wheels!
By Anton | October 8, 2008
So we finally did it! After Jac’s 4 years and my 1 year of enduring public transportation in Santiago, we finally saved enough to buy a car. I have to say we couldn’t have done it without a good friend of mine (Tito Abreu) who helped us through the whole thing. We drove all over the city as well as the neighboring one which is known for its good prices and after 3 weeks, we found the one. It is a red (as you can see from the picture) 1999 Honda CR-V and we love it! I have to say that after having it for a few days, we already decided we were crazy for not buying it sooner. It has really helped us to get more out of our days here in the ministry. We are able to accomplish twice as much and still arrive home with energy! Although the lack of walking does mean that I have been making 3 trips a week to the local gym (only 75 cents a day)! haha Well that is good for me anyway. Sadly… after only having it 3 weeks, it has already sustained damage. We were looking for a deaf woman outside of town when a motorcycle hit us on the driver side while making a left turn. We were not at fault but because the motorist had no insurance, we will have to pay for the repairs ourselves. The only good news is that body work costs a fraction of what it does in the states. Everyone was ok other than the few scrapes the motorist sustained. The car functions fine for the time being as it was only cosmetic damage. Just goes to show you, time and unforeseen occurrence befall us all!
And yes, that is a Michigan plate in front!
