Dominican Flora - You Can’t Find this Plant in Michigan

Very cool random plant outside the pool where we swim! It is a little like a willow tree, but a lot thicker, and the green little stubs are quite hard.
I am a botanical person, it’s true, but I don’t know the name of this one!
